The Deal Truth Score.
Know Before You Buy.
Every deal on Discount Offers is scored 1 to 10 using verified historical Australian pricing data โ so you know whether a deal represents genuine value before you click.
Australian Shoppers Deserve Price Transparency.
Understanding whether a discount is genuine takes research most shoppers simply don't have time for. A product marked "Was $999, Now $499 โ 50% off" may reflect a genuine saving โ or the was-price may have only appeared briefly. The Deal Truth Score tells you which, instantly.
How We Calculate Every Score
Our Deal Truth Score is calculated using verified Australian price data. Here is the exact process for every deal we publish.
Identify The Product
We match the exact model number across all major Australian retailers to ensure identical item comparison.
Build the Price History
We compile verified price records across major Australian retailers to build a complete picture of what this product actually costs over time.
Calculate The Score
We anchor the score to the 12-month average โ that always equals 5/10. Prices below the average score higher (up to 10 at the all-time low). Prices above the average score lower (down to 1 at the all-time high). Where multiple retailers sell the same product, your price position across competitors also factors in.
Publish With Transparency
Every deal shows the score, price history summary, and our recommendation. You decide with full information.
What Every Score Means
Every score is anchored to the 12-month average โ 5/10 always means you're paying the historical average price. Scores above 5 mean you're paying less than average. Scores below 5 mean you're paying more. A deal scoring 6 with a note saying it's cheapest across retailers is still a good deal, even if it's above the product's own average price.
Deal Truth Scores In Action
The same headline discount percentage can represent very different actual value. Here is why the score matters more than the percentage.
12-month average: $400
Today: $299 โ 25% below average
One of the lowest prices recorded in Australia. RRP has been $549 since launch โ this is a genuine discount confirmed by price history.
12-month average: $970
Today: $999 โ 3% above average
Although marketed as a discount from RRP, $999 is slightly above what Australians have typically paid for this model. The was-price reflects an RRP that rarely applied in practice.
12-month average: $720
Today: $895 โ 24% above average
This model has sold for as low as $599 during sale events. At $895 the current price is well above what Australians typically pay โ the headline 19% discount is measured against a rarely-applied RRP.
