Our Commitment to Transparency

Discount Offers is built on honesty. This page explains exactly how we earn money, how that affects the content we show you, and — importantly — what it doesn’t affect.

How we label every deal, coupon and promotion:

Discount Offers is free to use, and we’re upfront about how we’re paid. Every deal, coupon code and store promotion on the site carries one of three badges so you always know the relationship behind it:

● No Commission — We earn nothing from this listing. It’s a purely organic listing, included only because we believe it of genuine value.

● Affiliate — If you buy through this listing’s link, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It’s the same price you’d pay going direct (see below for more details).

● Sponsored — A retailer paid to feature this listing. It’s clearly labelled as a paid placement (see below for more details).

The promise that underpins all three:

These badges describe how we’re paid — they never change how a deal is scored or ranked. Every deal, whether No Commission, Affiliate or Sponsored, earns its Deal Truth Score from the same independent 12-month Australian price-history method. A retailer cannot ever pay for a better score. Sponsored deals are marked as sponsored and are held to the exact same scoring as everything else — a sponsored deal with a poor price history gets a poor score, the same as any other.

Coupon codes and store promotions carry no Deal Truth Score at all, whoever supplied them and whether or not they were paid for. A score is calculated from the price history of a specific product: a discount code has no single price to measure until it is applied at a retailer’s checkout, and a store-wide promotion covers many products at once. We label them separately so you can tell what has been assessed against price history and what has not. What we publish for a coupon instead is the date it last worked in a test we ran, and the conditions we tested under.

1. How We Earn Money

Affiliate Commissions

When you click a deal, coupon or promotion link on our site and make a qualifying purchase at the retailer’s website, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This commission is paid by the retailer and does not increase the price you pay — you pay exactly what you would pay by going directly to the retailer.

Affiliate commission rates typically range from 1% to 12% of the purchase value depending on the retailer and product category. Not all listings on our site earn us commission — many are listed purely because they represent genuine value for Australian shoppers.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Sponsored Placements

Australian retailers can pay to have their content placed prominently on our platform under our Essential, Featured, and Brand Partner tiers. They can also buy one-off placements, including Coupon Packages and Promotion Placements. Every one of these paid placements — deal, coupon code or store promotion — is clearly identified with a “Sponsored” badge at the point it appears.

All paid placements are held to identical standards as organic listings. Payment does not purchase a higher Deal Truth Score, does not guarantee inclusion on the website, does not guarantee publication of any specific deal, coupon or promotion, and does not result in the suppression of competing listings.

Paying for a placement does not change how we test a coupon code or what we publish about that test. A paid code that does not work in our test is not published, and a paid code that later fails a re-test is removed.

2. Affiliate Programs We Participate In

We are currently enrolled in affiliate programs including but not limited to:

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

This list is updated whenever we join or leave affiliate programs. Not all listings on our site are affiliate listings — some are listed without any commercial relationship with the retailer.

3. What Our Commercial Relationships Affect — and What They Don’t

What they DO affect:

• Which retailers we are able to feature with trackable affiliate links
• The commission we earn, which varies by retailer and category
• Which retailers we prioritise for outreach when sourcing new deals
• Whether a retailer has a store page on our platform, and whether they carry a partner badge

What they DO NOT affect:

• Our Deal Truth Score ratings — calculated purely from price history data
• Our editorial opinion on whether a deal is genuine value
• Our decision to publish a low Deal Truth Score on a deal from a paying merchant
• Our decision to feature a competitor’s product over an affiliate partner’s if the data supports it
• Whether we publish a coupon code that failed our test, or remove one that stops working
• Our commitment to accurate price history

A deal that scores 3 out of 10 will always show as 3 out of 10 — regardless of whether the retailer is an affiliate partner, a paying merchant, or has no commercial relationship with us at all.

Maintaining the integrity of Deal Truth Scores is fundamental to the purpose of Discount Offers.

4. How to Identify Affiliate Links and Paid Content

Affiliate Links

All outbound links to retailer websites on Discount Offers may be affiliate links. Every page on our site that contains affiliate links carries the following disclosure notice:

“Discount Offers is reader-supported. We earn commissions on purchases made through our links, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Read our advertising & affiliate disclosure.”

Affiliate links may redirect through our tracking system before reaching the retailer. If you would prefer not to use affiliate links you may navigate directly to the retailer’s website.

Sponsored / Paid Placements

Deals, coupon codes and store promotions that are paid placements are clearly identified with a “Sponsored” badge visible on the card and on the detail page. The absence of a “Sponsored” badge means the listing is an organic one that has not been paid for — and in that case the badge will read either “Affiliate”, if we may earn a commission, or “No Commission”, if we earn nothing at all.

5. Editorial Independence

Discount Offers maintains strict editorial independence from our commercial relationships. Specifically:

• Discount Offers reserves the right to determine Deal Truth Scores in its sole discretion using its proprietary methodology
• Merchants cannot request changes to, removal of, or suppression of Deal Truth Scores
• Affiliate commission rates do not influence which deals we feature or how we rate them
• We will feature a non-affiliate deal over an affiliate deal if the Deal Truth Score supports it
• We publish deals with low Deal Truth Scores specifically to warn consumers
• Merchants cannot require us to publish a coupon code that failed our test, or to keep publishing one that has stopped working
• No affiliate network or merchant has editorial control over our content

6. What Happens When an Affiliate Program Ends

If we leave an affiliate program or a retailer’s program is discontinued, the affected deal links on our site will either be updated to direct links or removed. The Deal Truth Score and deal information for any affected deal remain unchanged.

7. Australian Legal Compliance

This disclosure is made in accordance with:

• Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) — specifically sections 18 and 29 regarding misleading conduct and false representations
• ACCC Guidelines on Affiliate Marketing and Online Reviews (2022)
• Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) Code of Ethics — Distinguishability of Advertising principle

The ACCC’s position is that if a commercial relationship exists that could influence the content or ranking of a recommendation, that relationship must be clearly disclosed. We meet this by disclosing affiliate links on every page that contains them, and by marking every paid placement with a “Sponsored” badge at the point it appears.

8. Price and Availability Accuracy Disclaimer

While we make every effort to ensure prices are accurate at time of publication:

• Prices may change after we publish a deal without notice
• Availability is subject to change without notice
• The retailer’s website is the final and authoritative source on price and availability
• We recommend verifying the final price at checkout before completing any purchase

Coupon codes specifically. Before we publish a code we test it, and we show the date it last worked together with the conditions we tested under. A successful test relates only to the conditions actually tested — it is not a guarantee that a code will work for every shopper, basket, product, payment method, account or location. Retailers can withdraw, exhaust, restrict or change a code at any time, including after our most recent test. Where we find a code has stopped working, we remove it. If a code does not work for you, please tell us at hello@discountoffers.com.au so we can re-test it.

When you leave Discount Offers and visit a retailer’s website, that retailer’s own privacy policy and terms apply.
