So we built Discount Offers: every deal checked against real Australian price history and scored 1–10, so you can tell in seconds whether a price is genuinely good, not just dressed up to look that way.
Born From A Discount That Didn't Add Up
It started with a TV. It was "50% off" for a big sale, the price looked great, so we bought it. A few weeks later there it was again — same TV, same "50% off" tag — but priced lower than we'd just paid. Same discount, cheaper price. The percentage hadn't changed; the number it was measured against had. That was the moment it clicked: the "% off" on its own tells you almost nothing, and there was no easy way to see the real price behind it.
And it wasn't a one-off. Shoppers are constantly left guessing whether a discount is actually good — because the "was" price isn't always what an item normally sells for, so a big percentage-off can mean very little. It's a known enough problem that the ACCC regularly warns retailers about misleading "was/now" and comparison pricing, and has taken some to court over it. But a shopper scrolling at 9pm has no time to dig through months of prices to check — and until now, no easy tool to do it for them.
So we asked a simple question: why is there no easy way to just see whether a price is actually good? A few tools try to track prices — but mostly for a single overseas giant, and rarely across the Australian stores people actually shop. Doing it properly here — real Australian price history, at scale, turned into one clear score — is genuinely hard work, which is probably why it hadn't been done well. We decided to do exactly that.
To be clear, this was never about calling retailers out. Plenty run genuinely great deals — our job is to help shoppers recognise them, and to help the honest offers stand out from the noise. Discount Offers launched in 2026 with one mission: give every Australian shopper a straight answer the sales rarely make easy — is this price actually good?

The Problem
A percentage-off is only as meaningful as the price it's measured against — and shoppers rarely have the price history to judge it. Working it out means digging through months of prices across different retailers, which almost nobody has time for. So a genuinely great deal and an ordinary one can look identical at a glance.
What We Do Differently
We do that digging for you. Every deal is scored 1–10 against available Australian price history — 9/10 means the price is at or near its lowest in up to 12 months, 3/10 means it's worth waiting. One glance, based on data rather than marketing, so the honest deals are easy to spot.
The Deal Truth Score — How It Works
Every deal on Discount Offers receives a Deal Truth Score from 1 to 10. The score is anchored to the average price over up to 12 months of history, where we have it — a score of 5 means the price is around that average. Below it scores higher; above it scores lower. If the same product is sold at multiple Australian retailers, we also check whether this is the cheapest place to buy it — and that influences the score.
Our price database grows every day, which means our scores get more accurate over time. If we haven't scored a deal yet, we say so — we never pretend to have data we don't have.
The Deal Truth Score appears on every deal card, every product page, and every newsletter we send. Putting the price in context — honestly — is the whole point.
