DiscountOffers.com.au is built on honesty. This page explains exactly how we earn money, how that affects the content we publish, and what protections are in place for you as a shopper. This disclosure is made in accordance with our obligations under Australian law — see Section 7 below.

1. How We Earn Money

DiscountOffers.com.au earns revenue in two ways:

Affiliate Commissions

When you click a deal link on our site and make a qualifying purchase at the retailer’s website, we may earn a commission. This commission is paid by the retailer — not by you. You pay exactly the same price whether you click through our site or visit the retailer directly.

Affiliate commission rates typically range from 1% to 12% of the purchase value depending on the retailer and product category. The commission rate does not affect our Deal Truth Score rating or our decision to feature a deal.

Merchant Featured Placements

Australian retailers can pay to have their deals featured prominently on our platform under our Essential, Featured, and Brand Partner plans. Featured placements appear in highlighted positions on our homepage, deals page, and newsletter.

All paid placements are held to identical Deal Truth Score standards as organic listings. Payment does not purchase a higher score.

This list is updated whenever we join or leave affiliate programs. Not all deals on our site are affiliate deals — some are featured without affiliate links where we believe they represent genuine consumer value.

3. What Our Commercial Relationships Affect — and What They Don’t

What they DO affect:

• Which retailers we are able to feature with trackable affiliate links
• The commission we earn varies by retailer and category
• Which retailers we prioritise for outreach when sourcing new deals

What they DO NOT affect:

• Our Deal Truth Score ratings — calculated purely from price history data
• Our editorial opinion on whether a deal is genuine value
• Our decision to publish a low Deal Truth Score on a deal from a paying merchant
• Our decision to feature a competitor’s product over an affiliate partner’s if the data supports it
• Our commitment to accurate price history

A deal that scores 3 out of 10 will always show as 3 out of 10 — regardless of whether the retailer is an affiliate partner, a paying featured merchant, or neither.

If we compromised our Deal Truth Scores for commercial reasons, we would be no different from the comparison sites we were built to improve on.

4. How to Identify Affiliate Links and Paid Content

Affiliate Links

All outbound links to retailer websites on DiscountOffers.com.au may be affiliate links. Every page on our site that contains affiliate links displays the following notice in the footer:

Affiliate links may redirect through our tracking system. If you would prefer not to use affiliate links you may navigate directly to the retailer’s website.

Featured/Paid Placements

Deals that are merchant paid placements are clearly identified with a “Featured” badge visible on the deal card and deal page. This badge appears regardless of the deal’s Deal Truth Score.

The absence of a Featured badge means a deal is an organic listing that has not been paid for.

5. Editorial Independence

DiscountOffers maintains strict editorial independence from our commercial relationships. Specifically:

• Merchants cannot request changes to, removal of, or suppression of Deal Truth Scores
• Affiliate commission rates do not influence which deals we feature or how we rate them
• We will feature a non-affiliate deal over an affiliate deal if the Deal Truth Score supports it
• We publish deals with low Deal Truth Scores specifically to warn consumers
• No affiliate network or merchant has editorial control over our content

6. What Happens When an Affiliate Program Ends

If we leave an affiliate program or a retailer’s program is discontinued, the affected deal links on our site will either be updated to remove tracking or will redirect to the retailer’s website without affiliate attribution. We aim to update affected links within 14 days of any program change.

The Deal Truth Score and deal information for any affected deal remain unchanged.

7. Australian Legal Compliance

This disclosure is made in accordance with:

• Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, *Competition and Consumer Act 2010* (Cth)) — specifically sections 18 and 29 regarding misleading and deceptive conduct and false representations
• ACCC Guidelines on Affiliate Marketing and Online Reviews (2022)
• Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) Code of Ethics — Distinguishability of Advertising principle
• ACCC guidelines on influencer marketing and sponsored content which state that commercial relationships that may influence content must be clearly disclosed

The ACCC’s position is that if a commercial relationship exists that could influence the content or ranking of a recommendation, that relationship must be disclosed clearly and prominently. This page and the persistent footer notice on every page of our site fulfil that requirement.

8. Price Accuracy Disclaimer

While we make every effort to ensure deal prices are accurate at time of publication:

• Prices may change after we publish a deal without notice
• Availability is subject to change without notice
• The retailer’s website is the final and authoritative source on price and availability
• We recommend verifying the final price at checkout before completing any purchase
